Role Overview:
We are seeking a Medicaid Substance Abuse Medical Biller who will play a pivotal role in processing and managing billing and collections for Medicaid patients receiving substance abuse treatment. This position demands a robust understanding of Medicaid billing regulations, coding specific to substance abuse treatment, and a proactive approach to ensuring the financial integrity of our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accuracy First: Review and verify patient information to ensure accuracy and completeness, setting the foundation for successful billing.
- Timely Submission: Prepare and submit Medicaid claims for substance abuse treatment services with precision and within deadlines.
- Compliance Champion: Ensure strict adherence to Medicaid billing guidelines, utilizing the correct diagnosis and procedure codes (ICD-10, CPT, etc.) to facilitate seamless reimbursements.
- Claims Management: Monitor claims status diligently and proactively follow up on unpaid or denied claims to maximize revenue flow.
- Collaborative Documentation: Work closely with clinical staff to gather essential documentation needed for successful claim submissions.
- Effective Communication: Engage with Medicaid representatives and other insurance carriers to resolve billing discrepancies and expedite issue resolution.
- Record-Keeping Excellence: Maintain meticulous records of billing and payment activities to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Data Insights: Assist in preparing insightful reports on billing activities, collections, and outstanding accounts to inform strategic decisions.
- Regulatory Vigilance: Stay abreast of evolving Medicaid regulations and billing requirements specific to substance abuse services.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or certification in medical billing and coding is highly desirable.
- Minimum of [X] years of experience in medical billing, ideally focused on Medicaid and/or substance abuse treatment services.
